The Arrowsmith Ranch is a very secluded and private small ranch and vineyard nestled in the rolling hills between Solvang and Santa Ynez. We’re surrounded by some of the most beautiful landscapes in California and we’re very fortunate have many places nearby that serve some of the best wine and food imaginable.
Despite being fairly small at just over two acres, the ranch still has plenty of wildlife around. In addition to our rescue dogs and chickens we have a vast array of birds that visit the property and make use of our numerous bird feeders and water baths.
Our vineyard is on a slope behind the property and is a mix of seven varietals, the majority being Zinfandel. The rest is mainly a mix of Pinot, Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. We have been restoring the vineyard back to health after a period of neglect by previous owners, and starting 2019 we aim to produce between 1 and 2 tons of grapes each harvest. Aside from regular maintenance and care of the vines, the two main jobs are pruning and harvesting: pruning takes place at the end of the year and harvest is typically mid September onwards, but this can vary dependent on weather conditions.
